PRACSIS Regional Erasmus+ Week in Colombo, Sri Lanka

‍PRACSIS SPRL successfully organized the Erasmus+ Regional Week for Asia, the Middle East, and the Pacific in Colombo, Sri Lanka, endorsed by the European Commission to support the global network of Erasmus+ National Focal Points (ENFPs).

The event was held on November 18-19, 2025 and gathered around 180 in-person participants, including approximately 30 ENFPs, representatives of higher education institutions from the region, European universities, and EU Delegations. Several hundred additional participants joined online. Asia, the Middle East and the Pacific were grouped together to ensure strong regional representation and meaningful exchange.

Structure and Objectives of the Event

The programme was structured around three main components:

●       A Cluster Meeting to raise awareness of Erasmus+ opportunities and promote higher-quality applications;

●       Contact-making sessions, including onsite and online speed networking, facilitating over 100 bilateral meetings;

●       A dedicated ENFP Regional Training Meeting, focused on capacity building, exchange of good practices and practical guidance, complemented by a university study visit.

This year’s thematic focus was the green transition, highlighting how Erasmus+ can support sustainability in higher education and beyond. Discussions centered on key actions relevant to the region, including Capacity Building for Higher Education, International Credit Mobility, Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters and Jean Monnet Actions.

The Role of PRACSIS

PRACSIS was responsible for the full organization and implementation of the event. In close cooperation with the European Commission, the team developed the agenda, managed registrations, coordinated travel and accommodation, contracted venues and technical services, oversaw logistics and branding, and organised workshops and training sessions.

Outcomes and Partnerships

The immediate outcome of the Regional Week was the creation of numerous new partnerships between institutions in Europe and the participating regions. In the longer term, the initiative is expected to contribute to an increase in both the number and quality of Erasmus+ applications from Asia, the Middle East, and the Pacific.

PRACSIS Donation in Support of Sri Lanka

Following the event, Sri Lanka was struck by a severe cyclone. In solidarity with its partners, PRACSIS made a donation, coordinated with the Erasmus+ National Focal Point and the Ministry of Higher Education, to support the rebuilding of Peradeniya University contributing to the University of Peradeniya Flood Relief Fund.

Through initiatives such as the Erasmus+ Regional Week, PRACSIS continues to strengthen international cooperation, foster meaningful partnerships, and contribute to sustainable development through education worldwide.
