Questions pour in during live webcast

In February, PRACSIS hosted a successful webcast for BUILD UP where the Concerted Action on the Energy Performance of Buildings (EPBD) presented an important new publication. PRACSIS’s in-house web streaming services enabled several hundred viewers across Europe to watch and ask questions live.

The Concerted Action EPBD, a joint initiative of the EU Member States and the European Commission, presented its 2016 report on the implementation theEnergy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) across the EU. The webcast was also a chance to introduce the newly revamped buildup.eu.

The buildings sector, which accounts for roughly 40% of Europe’s carbon emissions, is a priority area for energy savings in the European Commission. It also offers large potential for creating jobs and growth. While the EPBD has improved the minimum requirements for buildings across the EU, more needs to be done in terms of implementation and enforcement.

On the panel were Paula Rey Garcia, leader of the buildings team at the European Commission’s DG Energy, and six other experts from leading research institutes in Europe. They presented their findings on various aspects of EPBD implementation and answered questions from the online audience.

PRACSIS widely promoted the event to solicit questions by email and Twitter. Many questions and comments arrived—before the event and during—a selection of which were answered during the webcast.
