Today PRACSIS organises DG Environment workshop on Ammonia Emissions in Edinburgh

One of DG Environment’s ongoing priorities is the revision of UNECE Framework Code on Ammonia Emissions. UNECE stands for United Nations Economic Commission for Europe. You might have never heard about ammonia before but it nevertheless is a serious concern for our environment, as it has adverse effects on aquatic ecosystems in rivers and lakes and can damage forests, crops and other vegetation.

The agricultural sector is currently responsible for the vast majority of ammonia emissions in the European Union, mainly through livestock housing, manure storage, dung deposition or nitrogenous fertilisers.

With the objective of identifying and showcasing best practices in the agricultural sector to control ammonia emissions, DG Environment has asked PRACSIS to organise this important public consultation workshop.

DG Environment trusts PRACSIS not only because it is able to deploy all that is necessary to ensure such high level event goes smoothly, but also for its expertise in environment, energy, agriculture and rural development and its ability to mobilise a vast network of experts in these areas.
