Duration of project: 2002- 2003
Aim of the project: The European Seveso II Directive (1996) aims to prevent accident hazards involving dangerous substances. In the framework of the directive, Member States are required to proactively campaign to inform citizens about the major risks of living in the vicinity of chemical industries, as well as security and prevention measures to take in case of an alert situation.

PRACSIS was responsible for the implementation of the PR campaign in Belgium including 60 events, and developed its communication strategy for the Belgian Ministry of Home Affairs.
Solutions provided by PRACSIS: In the framework of the Belgian SEVESO campaign PRACSIS developed two parallel campaigns:
  • A major media campaign at national level: PRACSIS developed the concept and content of the campaign communication tools, including posters, brochure and website;
  • Organisation of local actions among districts concerned by a particular site: PRACSIS organised and coordinated 60 actions in public places involving the local population, local authorities, and the regional and local press.
